Abstract
During revision of the genus Ipomoea (Convolvulaceae) for the Flora of Ethiopia, a collection was found of an Ipomoea from SE Ethiopia which was filed as I. aff. garcheana at the herbaria of C, ETH and K. Although from a single collection, these specimens are complete, bearing vegetative parts, flowers and fruits, which clearly show the distinction of the taxon from I. garckeana and other related taxa. The material is here described as a new species.
