Abstract

Six impressions of caddisfly wings were discovered during investigations of fossil insects from the Ruby River Basin of Montana. Four specimens were preserved well enough for taxonomic descriptions; the other 2 are still being considered for future description. The 4 describable specimens, representing a single species, probably belong to the genus Miopsyche Carpenter. This species represents the first of this genus to be described from this locality. The fossils were found in paper shales of Oligocene age between Peterson and Morman Creeks, sec. 23, T. 75, R. 5 W., Madison County, Mont. The diggings are situated ca. 13 miles from the town of Adler, Mont. I briefly described the geologic history of this region in a previous paper (Lewis 1971).
