Abstract

Summary. Cyperus androhibensis, a new species in Cyperus sect. Leucocephali is described and illustrated. C. rufostriatus is emended in the light of recent collections to include C. hylophilus. The Flore de Madagascar account of Cyperaceae was published by Chermezon (1937) but since then many new collections have been made. From routine naming of Madagascar material at Kew several new taxa have come to light and it has become apparent that several species are inadequately described. This paper describes a new species assigned to Cyperus sect. Leucocephali, recently revised by Simpson (1990). A reassessment is also made of C. rufostriatus C. B. Clarke, assigned to sect. Incurvi. This species is shown to be much more variable than is indicated in the original description.
