Abstract
-We describe a new species of cotinga, Doliornis remseni, known from three localities from the Ecuador/Colombia border south to the Ecuador/Peru border. Plumage and syringeal morphology unequivocally place it in the genus Doliornis, which was formerly considered to be monotypic and restricted to central Peru south of the Rio Marafi6n. Ageing and plumage sequences in Doliornis and Ampelion are clarified. Received 16 August 1993, accepted
