Abstract

A novel adsorbent has been synthesized by functionalization of monodisperse porous poly(3‐chloro‐2‐hydroxypropyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) particles with phenylalanine (Phe) as a protein‐selective ligand. The polymer particle can adsorb protein in its isoelectric pH (4.8), and its maximum capacity is ca. 633 mg/g. The adsorption behavior of poly(HPMA‐Cl‐co‐EGDMA) with Phe resin obeyed Langmuir isotherm well.
