Abstract

A new species, Colchicum leptanthum K.Perss. (Colchicaceae), endemic to north-east Turkey, is described. The species is early spring-flowering (±winter-flowering), and has soboliferous corms, a feature it shares with only eight other species of the genus. The chromosome number is 2 n=18.
