Abstract

Due to its high spectrum efficiency, the Single Frequency Network (SFN) has been widely used in digital terrestrial multimedia broadcasting (DTMB) system, which is the Chinese national digital television terrestrial broadcasting standard. In the conventional SFN realization for DTMB, the synchronization between different transmitters in the distributed network is achieved with the second initialization packet (SIP) inserted in the MPEG-2 transport stream (TS). In this paper, a suggested SFN structure for DTMB without SIP insertion is proposed. The performance is shown through the simulation and Lab test results.
