Abstract

A new manganese chlorin has been successfully immobilized on a silica matrix by a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The potential application of this new material as a biomimetic oxidation catalyst was tested, using cis-cyclooctene as substrate. Different reaction conditions were studied, including hydrogen peroxide and t-butyl hydroperoxide as oxidants. The new silica-supported manganese chlorin exhibits high catalytic efficiency and a good recyclability was observed with t-butyl hydroperoxide.
