Abstract
A monosaccharide unit was synthesized bearing four different temporary protecting groups. The protecting groups used (Fmoc carbonate, NAP ether, levulinoyl and chloroacetyl esters) and the anomeric thio-glycoside form a new set of orthogonal protecting groups. The orthogonality of these groups has been demonstrated on the monosaccharide scaffold.
