Abstract

Sawfish rostral teeth from the Woodbine Formation near Arlington, Texas, bear three or more barbs along the posterior edge and a lack of ribbing along peripheral keels. Otherwise they are similar to Onchopristis numidus Haug, in which rostral teeth are characterized by a single large terminal barb and ribbing. The complete absence of the latter in the Woodbine faunule suggests the multiple barbs and ribbing are specific properties; therefore these forms are described as 0. dunklei n. sp.
