Abstract
Abstract The ground-based modern meridian circles are discussed from the perspectives of the tremendous achievements in astrometry. A method of CCD star position determination by short strips is proposed. An observing programme of 12—14 stars around the extragalactic radiosources for the connection of the optical/radio reference frame using the Mykolayiv Axial meridian circle (AMC) and Danish—Chinese meridian telescope (DCMT) is described.
