Abstract

AbstractThe following inverse problem of axisymmetric thermoelasticity is considered: stresses σz and σrz are determined experimentally but the temperature distribution is not known; the stresses σr and σθ are to be determined. By eliminating temperature from the compatibility equations and using the equilibrium equations, a new relationship between the stress components for the axisymmetric thermoelasticity problem has been derived. Using this relationship, a closed form solution of the problem has been obtained.
