Abstract
The health Information system is widely expected to increase patient safety and reduce medical errors. Design and implementation of a healthcare system need to consider the software engineering principles and methodologies. In this paper, a literature review has been carried out for healthcare systems implementation. The paper also discusses three common software methodologies and their uses in the healthcare domain. A Software Engineering Methodology for Healthcare Applications development (SEMHTA) will be proposed. SEMHTA has been introduced in this paper to solve the healthcare software development challenges. This paper also provides a comparison between the most common software engineering methodologies and the new proposed one.
