Abstract

We constructed a new sensitive pressure gauge operating on the pneumatic principle by which the small pressure differences acting on the corrugated diaphragm capsules are magnified to the large pressure differences acting on the metallic bellows and we can measure the small pressure differences by the strong pressure indicator using the metallic bellows. The detail of the construction of the sensitive pressure gauge is described with the schematic diagram and the precisely measured characteristic values of the principal parts of the instrument. The maxmum range of the sensitive pressure gauge is ±5 mm Aq and the accuracy is about 1% thronghout the whole range. The performances of the sensitive pressure gauge are investigated theoretically on the statical and dynamical aspects and compared with the experimental results. The time constant of the transient response is about 0.2 sec and the indicating hand of the gauge becomes to rest in a time less than 0.8 sec. The minimum sensitive pressure difference is less than 0.01 mm Aq.
