Abstract

A new press hardening steel (PHS) with an ultimate tensile strength of 2428 MPa, a yield strength of 1457 MPa and a total elongation of 8.4 % has been developed, which was fabricated by oil quenching to room temperature. Such a combination of strength and ductility is much superior than other reported conventional high strength PHS. The excellent mechanical properties can be well interpreted by synergistic strengthening of high-density dislocations and finely dispersed (V, Nb)C precipitates.
