Abstract

This paper proposes a new approach of predictive torque control (PTC) applied for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The predictive torque control was a good alternative to conventional direct torque control for improving high dynamic torque control, that's why the PTC becomes one of the most strategies used in industry recently, thanks to his known advantages such as a simple implementation, minimal torque response time and robustness. However, some limitations in terms of torque and current ripples are exhibited due to the variable switching frequency. To enhance this type of control and remedy the last problem, the predictive Torque control using SVM (Space Vector Modulation) was a perfect choice, that shows a good performance for the permanent magnet synchronous motor, with fixed switching frequency, which minimizes the torque ripple and improve the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of the statoric current.
