Abstract

In order to achieve highly conductive polymer electrolytes, having small temperature dependence of conductivity, we have designed a new polymer host; polyglycidylether with a short polyether side chain, where ionic motion can be coupled with the side chain motion that is characterized by relatively short relaxation time and its small temperature dependence, compared with those of main chain motion. A typical polymer has been synthesized by anionic polymerization of 2-(2-methoxyethoxy)-ethylglycidylether, which was prepared by condensation reaction of epichlorohydrin and the corresponding alcohol. The polymer electrolytes based on the network polymer of the polyglycidylether had both high conductivity and its small temperature dependency.
