Abstract

Solitaricola bipes, a new genus and species of poecilostomatoid Copepoda, family Pseudanthessiidae, is described. It is associated with solitary scleractinian corals, probably with Flabellum sp., trawled in 1035 m off Sri Lanka. It is the first copepod associate recorded from solitary corals, but it is morphologically related to associates of hermatypic corals and zoanthideans.
