Abstract

As part of our continuous studies on dietary supplements for diabetes, 1 new phenolic diterpene, 7-butoxyrosmanol (1), and 3 known ones (2-4) were isolated from Rosmarinus officinalis. The new structure was elucidated based on comprehensive spectroscopic methods, including multiple nuclear magnetic resonance techniques, mass spectrometry, and x-ray diffraction analysis. In addition, compound 1 showed moderate activity against pancreatic lipase with an IC50value of 46.2 μM.
