Abstract

A new method of peak stretching is described, which is based on a sample hold circuit working directly on the output of a main amplifier. The hold command is taken from the zero crossing of the first derivative of the signal seen by the sample hold amplifier. Besides its extreme stability and linearity the circuit allows for window discrimination without the need for a delay line and forms a complete front end for an ADC.
