Abstract
A new species of palaemonid shrimp, anacanthus, is described and illustrated. As a species of the Periclimenes grandis species group, it is most closely related to P. calmani Tattersall or P. ensifrons (Dana) and P. grandis (Stimpson). The species is apparently free-living and associated with Zostera- beds in southern Queensland.
