Abstract
This feature provides details of a new high-performance packing ring design that is characterised by both its high sealing efficiency and low wear rate. As this article shows, clarifying the thermo-physical processes in a pressure packing, gaining an understanding of the wear pattern of a packing ring and elucidating the factors governing the sealing efficiency of a packing ring have played key roles in the development of this design.
