Abstract
A new Hg(II) complex [Hg(OOCCH(CH3)CFc)(CH(CH3)CFc)]·MeOH (Fc=(η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4)) (1) was obtained by the reaction of Hg(OAc)2 with FcC(CH3)CHCOONa in methanol solution. X-ray structural analysis reveals that the center Hg(II) ion is two-coordinated by the FcC(CH3)CHCOO− unit and the decarboxylation FcC(CH3)CHC− unit. This is the first example of Hg(II) monomer containing both ferrocenyl carboxylate and its decarboxylation product. Its thermal properties were investigated under N2.
