Abstract

A solvothermal reaction of Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, the multiple N-donor ligand 6,6′-bis (1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-2,2′-bipyridine (H2L), in a mixed solvent of DMF and water give rise to a new Ni(II)-containing coordination complex with the chemical formula [Ni(HCOO) (HL)(H2O)] (1). The chemical composition of as-prepared complex 1 is determined via the elemental analysis and the structural arrangement is probed via single crystal X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, we use the grinding method to prepare nanoparticles of complex 1 with an average size of 89 nm. To overcome the difficulty of P. gingivalis infected periodontal diseases, the antibiofilm activity of nano 1 is evaluated by the crystal violet staining assay, and the RT-PCR measurement is performed to detect the activity of nano 1 on reducing hagB and hagC genes expression.
