Abstract

The first species of the ordo Archaeognatha from amber of the Dominican Republic (age ca 20-25 million years) is described: All of the more than 100 examined specimens can be assigned to a single species, Neomachilellus (Praeneomachilellus) dominicanus n.subgen n.sp. Concerning fossil species of Archaeognatha, also the first record and description is given for the 2 freeliving unscaled developmental stages.
