Abstract

The original Joint Domain Localized (JDL) Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP) algorithm is a kind of effective beam-Doppler domain method. However, when there are array element errors in the system, the Localized Processing Region (LPR) in the JDL algorithm must be expanded in the spatial domain in order to gain the same robustness so that the system computation load is increased significantly. In this paper, a new modified JDL algorithm is presented to solve this problem. The Moving Target Indicate (MTI) technique is applied to pre-filter the mainlobe clutter before the original JDL processing, which can reduce the clutter Degrees of Freedom (DoFs) effectively and enhance the system robustness to the array element errors. By comparison of the new modified JDL algorithm with the original JDL STAP algorithm using the numerical simulation, it is found that the proposed method can improve the system performance significantly
