Abstract

The so-called “closing equations” method constitutes a suitable technique to detect limit cycles bifurcation in piecewise linear control systems. Here, this technique is adapted to detect limit cycles of great amplitude, that bifurcate from the point at infinity. The specific cases of dimension 2 and 3 are completely analyzed. In terms of the bifurcation parameter, expressions in form of power series for the period, amplitude and the characteristic multipliers of the bifurcating limit cycle are obtained.
