Abstract
We show that the reflection pattern for very slow neutrons impinging on thin films of a fluid is highly sensitive to the variation in the density distribution within the sample. As an example, 4He is used to study the temperature dependence of the density distribution in the immediate vicinity of the critical point with high precision and minimal gravity distortions.
