Abstract

Harmonics are one basic characteristic of power quality. In order to correctly select methods to suppress the harmonics, the accurate measurement of harmonics in the power network has been a necessary thing. In this paper, two kinds of voltage transformer transient responses are discussed, but they cannot reflect accurately in high frequency and cannot measure the transient harmonics. However the optical fibre voltage transducer has high isolation, high insulation level and excellent high-frequency band reflection. A new method is put forward to measure the high order harmonics, that is using the optical voltage transducer and virtual instrument technology, and the measurement system is established. Finally the experiments in a laboratory demonstrate that this method has more accurate response in high order harmonics measurement.
