Abstract

The authors present a novel method for the steady-state operation analysis of the V scheme for one-phase and three-phase power distribution at MV from the insulated shield wires of HV lines. The method makes use of the algebra of sequence circuits. A computer program, referred to as SWLP (Shield Wire Line Program), has been developed on the basis of the new method, which makes it possible to easily study these unconventional systems. The operation results of five shield wire distribution schemes for village electrification in Northern Ghana are presented. Information is also given on similar schemes planned in other countries.
