Abstract

A fundamentally new method has been developed for synthesizing 1-substituted silatranes XSi(OCH2CH2)3N, where X is a highly electronegative substituent. This method is based on the interaction of tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium salts with tetraethoxysilane, is characterized by the simplicity of the synthesis procedures, and is environmentally friendly.
