Abstract

In this investigation, we developed a new optimization method, i.e., biogeography based optimization (BBO), for loading pattern optimization problem of pressurized water reactors. BBO is a novel stochastic force based on the science of biogeography. Biogeography is the schoolwork of geographical allotment of biological organisms. BBO make use of migration operator to share information between the problem solutions. The problem solutions are called as habitats and sharing of features is called migration. For the evaluation of the proposed method, we applied a multi-objective fitness function i.e., the maximization of reactivity at BOC and the flattening of power distribution are achieved efficiently and simultaneously. The neutronic calculation is done by CITATION and WIMS codes.
