Abstract
The present communication demonstrates the preparation of interference filters with predetermined half-band width (2 δ λ) and band wavelength (λmax) of maximum transmittance. Methods suggested in the literature ensured the preparation of interference filters for which only 2 δ λ was predetermined. With the half-width dependence on filter parameters and the condition for maximum band transmittance in mind, a new method for preparing interference filters with prescribed 2 δ λ and λmax is suggested. The manufacture of interference filters by the method given is easily achieved. The application limits of this new method are demonstrated. This method is applicable to both symmetrical and asymmetrical filters.
