Abstract

The Vertical Interval Reference (VIR) signal transmitted on line 19 of each field of the NTSC composite video signal is being used in an increasing number of television receivers for control of color and tint of the displayed picture. These receivers contain circuitry that recognizes each line 19, detects the presence of a VIR signal, and processes the VIR signal to produce error signals to control the chrominance circuitry.
