Abstract
Metapenaeopsis provocatoria owstoni subsp. nov. from Japan is proposed. This new subspecies resemblesMetapenaeopsis provocatoria longirostrisCrosnier, 1987 from Australia, but clearly differs from it in having an elongate rostrum, the prosartema not overreaching the cornea, abdominal somite 6 broad and short, the short uropod; the narrow mandibular palp, the right distoventral projection of petasma not overreaching the distoventral flap, and the thelycal lateral ridge a little divergent and the transversal plate not broad.
