Abstract
A new hopane triterpenoid, 3α-hydroxy-21β-H-hop-22(29)-en-23-oic acid, together with seven known triterpenoid and sterolic compounds, were isolated from the leaves of Hybanthus austro-caledonicus (Vieill.) Schinz & Guillaumin. No cyclotide has been detected in the leaves. ► Eight triterpenes and sterols were isolated from Hybanthus austro-caledonicus . ► A new hopane, 3-epi-woodwardinic acid, has been characterized. ► It is the first time that hopane-type triterpenoids were detected in genus Hybanthus . ► No cyclotide has been detected in aerial parts of Hybanthus austro-caledonicus .
