Abstract

Aiming at the bug that the conventional ESPRIT algorithm can not estimate coherent signals, a new ESPRIT algorithm is proposed based on the modified singular value decomposition algorithm (MSVD). This new ESPRIT algorithm first processes the data from the array X with MSVD, gets the data covariance matrix R, and next conducts singular value decomposition of R to get the signal subspace and carries on the spatial smoothing on it to reconstruct the matrix F, and then processes F to get the direction-of-arrival (DOA) and finally analyses its performance by a large number of simulation experiments. The experimental results show that the new algorithm can not only estimate coherent and incoherent signals simultaneously, but also has high resolution, high success rate, low deviation and calculating amount compared with the LS-ESPRIT in the estimation of incoherent signals. The LS-ESPRIT can not estimate coherent signals, while the new algorithm has better performance when it estimates incoherent signals in the same SNR.
