Abstract

A new high resolution spectroscopic facility recently installed at the SURF II electron storage ring light source is described. The facility consists of a beamline, with optical elements providing high throughput to polarized VUV light and differential pumping for high gas load experiments, three experimental areas, and a 6.65-m spectrometer capable of producing resolving powers of 2×10 5 for wavelengths between 40 and 200 nm.
