Abstract

In wireless communications, in order to evaluate the performance of systems with smart antennas, vector channel models are needed. A new geometrically based layered single bounce statistical spatio-temporal vector channel model is proposed The model is a combination of geometrically based single reflection and Gaussian wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering nonstationary models as well as Rayleigh's model. The geometrically based layered assumption splits scatterers into domain scatterers and local scatterers. The domain scatterers cause larger delay spreads and angle spreads, which bring frequency selective fading on the radio channels, while local scatterers cause small delay spread. The nonstationary scenarios with dynamic evolution of multipaths also are considered. The proposed model is suitable for theoretical analysis and computer simulation.
