Abstract

A new chaetognath, Xenokrohnia sorbei n. gen., n. sp., is described from the bottom at depths of 700 m in the Bay of Biscay. It is mainly characterized by the presence of a strange ventral secretory gland. This gland is described and its possible functions are considered: a feeding function being the most probable.
