Abstract
A new type of generator of 81mKr for use in hospitals is described.Sodium bromide in a cooled molybdenum base is bombarded with α-particles from the Birmingham University 152 cm cyclotron to produce 81Rb. The sodium bromide is dissolved in situ and the solution completely absorbed in thin filter paper supported by corrugated copper foil. Air passed through this at 1 to 51/min carries away for use 70–80% of the 81mKr produced.
