Introduction

Facility location is a branch of operations research concerning optimal placement of facilities. In a simple facility location problem a single facility is to be placed, subject to the minimization of the sum of distances from a given set of sites. More complex problems considers the placement of multiple facilities, constraints on the locations of numerous facilities, and various complex optimization criteria.[1] Recent decades witness huge improvements in computational research and information technology and as such, the application of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) in facility location is increased exponentially.[2] Spatial scientists are continuously working on mathematical modeling and solution of problems concerning the placement of facilities to minimize transportation costs, prevent placing hazardous materials near housing, outrun competitors' facilities, etc. Bischoff et al.[3] formulated several objective
