Abstract
This paper presents a new method to stabilize fixed speed wind turbine with squirrel cage induction generator (FSWT-SCIG) by using variable speed wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator (VSWT-PMSG) in a wind farm (WF). A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is proposed in the grid side converter (GSC) of VSWT-PMSG to improve the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of WF during transient condition. The proposed FLC is used to control the reactive power delivered to the grid during fault condition. Simulation analyses have been performed using PSCAD/EMTDC software. The simulation results show that the proposed control strategy is more effective to enhance the transient stability of WF during fault condition compare to conventional PI based controller.
