Abstract

The author has shown a new phenomenon. A three-dimensional, rectangular jet oscillates periodically when it is issued into a suddenly enlarged flow passage. A suitable configuration from the rectangular nozzle feature, a smaller height than the one the flow passage. Using this phenomenon, it is thought that a new fluidic oscillator, flowmeter, without control port and a feedback loop can be constructed. This paper makes clear the condition which causes the oscillation, depends on the relation between the oscillatory frequency and various conditions such as dimensions of the nozzle and flow passage of jet velocity. For the trial manufacture of the above-mentioned fluidic oscillator, the mechanism of oscillation and the oscillatory frequency was investigated.
