Abstract

A new family of active auxiliary circuits that allows the power switch in single switch, pulsewidth modulated (PWM) converters to operate with zero-voltage switching (ZVS) is proposed in this paper. The auxiliary switch can operate with a zero-current switching (ZCS) turn-on and turn-off without increasing the peak current stresses of the main switch. The feasibility of the new family of auxiliary circuits is confirmed by results obtained from a 500 W, 100 kHz boost converter prototype
