Abstract

To solve the interval type-2 fuzzy multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problems, we propose a new extended TOPSIS method. Firstly, to describe the closeness degree of each alternative with the positive ideal solution (PIS) and the negative ideal solution (NIS), we present a signed area concept for interval type-2 fuzzy sets. Then, we obtain a new extended TOPSIS method based on the proposed signed area method. Furtherly, we explore some useful properties of the extended TOPSIS method and give the proofs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by an intelligent nursing problem.
