Abstract

A new empirical rule useful to estimate the \\ ̄ gs, fission neutron spectrum averaged cross sections, of the (n, p) and (n, α) reactions, is proposed. When the nuclides are grouped with the same neutron-excess number, linear relations exist between log( \\ ̄ gsA −2 3 E −1 2 eff ) and E eff. Averaged cross-section values for Be to Bi are newly estimated with this empirical rule. The feasibility of the rule is discussed in comparison with the existing estimated values.
