Abstract

Abstract-In recent years, several kinds of wireless networks have been widely deployed to enhance mobile communication. In this study, we focus on Taiwan's electronic bus (e-bus) system and how public transit data are communicated. In Taiwan's current system, this type of transit data is provided through specific mobile network operators. Such operations require a huge expenditure every month to pay for the subscription fees for data transmission. Therefore, we design a new network system using digital mobile radio (DMR) and enhanced Wi-Fi to replace the current mobile network operator. Furthermore, we propose a dynamic update strategy to increase the system capacity. In the case of emergencies or disasters, 2G/3G/LTE networks may not be very reliable, and our proposed system could be used during rescue operations. It also has lower costs than using mobile networks. The implementation of the system architecture, the application of DMR, and enhanced Wi-Fi in the proposed system, as well as the dynamic update strategy are described in this paper.
