Abstract

Results of a study of the process of disintegration of SiC, Si3N4, and A12O3 powders with an additive of a silicon alkoxy compound are presented. It is established that the modification of the powders occurs with mechanochemical processes such as mechano- and thermodestruction of the silicon alkoxy compound, variation of the structure of polycrystals and the properties of the powder surfaces, and the synthesis of new formations. The mechanochemical synthesis of silicon carbide and oxynitride in modification of the powders by silicon alkoxy compound has been proved by the x-ray method. The mechanochemical synthesis occurs with the participation of reaction-sintered active particles of carbon and SiO vapors, as well as the components of the gas medium.
