Abstract

A new class of differential unitary space-time codes, namely, differential monomial space-time codes, is proposed. In contrast to many other differential unitary space-time codes, this new class of differential monomial space-time codes does not require the transmitted matrices to form a group. Instead, the signals at each transmit antenna are constrained in MPSK constellations. Due to this feature, the transmitted signals on each transmit antenna can be generated by a simple table lookup and modulus-add operation with low complexity. We give design examples for 4 transmit antennas and show the performance improvement over conventional differential unitary space-time codes.
